Magnolia confident new import James Farr will get better once jetlag wanes

New Magnolia import James Farr struggled in his PBA debut due to “jetlag.”

Farr, who just got to the country a couple of days ago to replace the hurt John Fields, shot a dismal 5-of-26 from the field and committed 6 turnovers in the 35 minutes he played versus NorthPort Batang Pier in 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup action.

The 26-year-old, though, finished with 11 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals, and a block. But it wasn’t enough as the Hotshots’ fightback from 16 down fell short, 99-102, dropping to 0-2 in the mid-season conference

“I’m still dealing with jetlag,” Farr admitted.

“But no excuses. My teammates they played very hard. They fought through adversity and I couldn’t be more proud.”

But coach Chito Victolero, reigning league Coach of the Year, is confident that Farr will be able to get his bearings back sooner.

“It’s very hard also for our new import kasi — it’s not an excuse — pero yung totoo, may jetlag pa siya,” said Hotshots head coach Chito Victolero. “He’s coming from almost 20-hour flight and he only have one practice sa’min.

“He has a good start. Maganda yung start niya. The problem is … Wala siya talagang legs eh. So after how many minutes, yung kaniyang shot selection hindi na maganda, yung kaniyang decision-making,” added Victolero.
