Malonzo’s 34 lead La Salle in blowout win over Adamson
A wonderful and emphatic win for La Salle to wrap up their season.
The Green Archers vented out all their Final Four frustrations over the Adamson Soaring Falcons in an 89-63 beatdown in the last elimination games of UAAP Season 82 men’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday October 30.
With that win, La Salle ended their season with a 7-7 standing after experiencing another Final Four exit at the hands of UP on Sunday.
Jamie Malonzo set the pace for the Archers when he exploded 19 points in the first half for a 50-29 advantage over the Falcons.
The game was already decided when La Salle’s lead ballooned up to 30, 36-66, after an Encho Serrano layup at the 1:50 mark in the third period.
In the end, one-and-done star Malonzo sparking career-high 34 points on 7-of-12 shooting clip from the triple to go along 12 rebounds and a block.
“This was a good team win. We wanted the guys to finish (the season) the right way,” said La Salle consultant Jermaine Byrd.
Graduating Andrei Caracut also delivered in his exit with 14 points, six assists, and three rebounds.
Meanwhile, Adamson had their worst finish under head coach Franz Pumaren with 4-10
Rookie AP Manlapaz paced Falcons 15 points.
Adamson will have to move on from one-and-done guard Val Chauca, team captain Simon Camacho, Kristian Bernardo, and Egie Mojica.
