Manganti hurts UP faithfuls, leads Adamson to 4-0
University of the Philippines faithfuls were enjoying the Fighting Maroons’ slim 68-67 lead against the Adamson University Wednesday night.
But Sean Manganti happened.
Down 67-68 with 5.7 seconds remaining, Soaring Falcons head coach Franz Pumaren sued for time to draw their winning play. Moments later, Mangati dropped the bomb and secured Adamson’s fourth win, 69-68.
“I can say that it was lucky for us, good shot by Sean,: said a visibly happy Franz Pumaren said.
Manganti had 18 points while Jerrick Ahanmisi and Jonthan Espeleta contributed with 15 and 10 markers, respectively.
Inspite of winning, Pumaren still won’t stop perfecting Adamson’s system.
“We allowed to take the game. We kind of veered away from our game plan and played selfish,” he said.
This is Adamson’s best start since 2003 with 4-0 record while the Fighting Maroons lost their third consecutive game after their season-opener win.
Juan Gomez de Liano led the Fighting Maroons with 21 points together with eight rebounds and two assists. Bright Akhuetie added 20-point, 20-rebound double double.
The Soaring Falcons will try to continue its roll against the National University Bulldogs on Saturday, September 29.
