University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons head coach Goldwyn Monteverde is confident that Maodo Malick Diouf’s stint in the D2 Super Cup Invitational Tournament won’t affect his UAAP eligibility.
According to the veteran coach, Diouf’s brief stint with Tiaong Meaksyon last Friday has no bearing on his remaining UAAP years with the Fighting Maroons.
“(Diouf’s) D2 Super Cup stint shouldn’t affect his (UAAP) eligibility (but) he won’t play there again,”
Monteverde was quoted in a post by sports vlogger Naveen Ganglani.
The reigning UAAP MVP awardee had his lone game for Tiaong Meaksyon last Friday, where he tallied a double-double of 18 points and 17 rebounds in a 79-68 victory over Manila at the Tiaong Convention Center in Quezon.
Tiaong Meaksyon, led by Diouf, is poised to go up against Siomai King, featuring former PBA players Encho Serrano and Kurt Lojera, in a decisive one-game finale scheduled for Sunday evening. (AC)
