Mark Caguioa bids farewell to PBA batchmate
With PJ Simon’s recent retirement on Wednesday, Mark Caguioa becomes the sole survivor in PBA’s 2001 draft.
The Ginebra veteran paid tribute to his rival/close friend from Purefoods franchise, who had their fair share of great matchups in their ‘Manila Classico’ games over the years in PBA.
While Caguioa became an instant star in Ginebra, the ‘Scoring Apostle’ was drafted in the fourth round and he had to wait three years before Purefoods finally believed in his potential.
“My only batchmate left from 2001 draft. One of the nicest guy on and off the court. Pj might be a nice guy but dont let that fool you. I call this guy a quiet assasin bcuz he usually goes under the radar,” Caguioa commented.
“He is a born winner and a true champion. Thank you for all the great battles.”
Simon established himself as the team”s ‘Super Sub’, while also forming Super Sub’ a ‘Big Three’ with Marc Pingris and James Yap.
“Thank you my batchmate. Maraming salamat sa lahat ng battles natin. You always bring out the best in me. Good luck also bro,” Simon responded.
LAST MAN STANDING.👏
