Matthews Joins Lakers, Dragic Stays With Miami
Wesley Matthews have formalized his transfer to the defending champions Los Angeles Lakers, while Goran Dragić agreed to stay with Miami Heat as the NBA free agency opened on Saturday.
Matthews, a known three-point gunner, have agreed to a one-year deal worth $3.6 million with the Lakers after opting out from his deal with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Matthews is a great addition for the Lakers’ title-retention bid in the 2020-2021 NBA season after trading away Danny Green and with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Avery Bradley opting out their contracts to become free agents.
Dragic, on the other hand, has agreed to return to 2019-2020 NBA season runner ups Heat on a two-year deal worth $37.4 million, same with center Meyers Leonard, who will sign a two-year contract with the Heat.
Detroit Pistons, meanwhile, shored up with center position after signing Mason Plumlee to a three-year $25 million deal, while also agreeing with Jahlil Okafor on a two-year contract.
Drew Eubanks agrees to a three-year contract with the San Antonio Spurs, Patrick Patterson also agreed to return to the Los Angeles Clippers on a one-year contract.
Facundo Campazzo, meanwhile, will finally make his NBA debut after agreeing a two-year contract with the Denver Nuggets.
