Meralco Bolts focused on maximizing wins in PBA on Tour, says Allein Maliksi

The Meralco Bolts are not treating the ongoing PBA on Tour as a mere pre-season tournament as they try to win as many games as possible, according to star forward Allein Maliksi.

The former University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers forward said the Bolts are taking the games seriously as the team works on acclimatizing to the system of new head coach Luigi Trillo.

“We’re just really working hard in practice, and we are trying to be professional and trying to win all the games sa PBA on Tour,” said Maliksi, who was hailed as the Player of the Game after scoring 28 points in the Bolts’ 108-90 win over TNT Tropang Giga on Wednesday night.

Maliksi also credited his Meralco teammates for his strong performance in their PBA on Tour matches, where he averaged 22.8 points in six matches.

“It’s just a total team effort and making the right plays,” Maliksi said. “We’re just really working hard on and off the court, sa mga practices, and as much as possible be efficient when inside the court.”

Aside from Maliksi, five other Bolts scored double-digits in the lopsided win, with Kier John Quinto adding 19 points and 11 rebounds, Franky Johnson and Raymond Almazan finishing with 13 points each, and Clifford Hodge and Raymar Jose ending with 10 each.

The Bolts improved their win-loss record to 4-2 with the win, while their sister team, Tropang Giga, suffered their fifth defeat in as many games. (AC)
