Damian Lillard has requested a trade to leave the Portland Trail Blazers, his home for the past 11 years.
Trail Blazers General Manager Joe Cronin confirmed that Lillard wants to be moved to another team.
“We have been clear that we want Dame here, but he notified us today he wants out and he’d prefer to play someplace else,” Cronin said.
“What has not changed for us is that we’re committed to winning, and we are going to do what’s best for the team in pursuit of that goal,” he added.
According to several reports, Lillard’s top choice for his new team is the Miami Heat, where he could join forces with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.
Miami came close to making history last season as the second eighth seed to reach the Finals.
According to ESPN’s report, other teams that could potentially acquire Lillard include the San Antonio Spurs, Philadelphia 76ers, and LA Clippers. (Mark Patriarca)
