CONVERGE FiberXers guard Mikey Williams could be headed for a change of scenery as his contract nears expiration, with TNT Tropang 5G emerging as a potential destination.
According to Abante Bilyonaryo Group’s Homer Sayson, Williams could head back to his former team as he has struggled to regain his usual form this conference for Converge.
Through eight games, the 34-year-old guard is averaging just 12 points per game while shooting only 13.3 percent from three-point range, making just four of 30 attempts.
The decline in production and shooting efficiency has reportedly cast doubt on whether Converge will seek to renew Williams’ contract, which is set to expire in December.
A trade is therefore being viewed as a possible outcome, although moving Williams could prove challenging because of his contract.
Williams reportedly earns more than $22,000 a month, including perks and bonuses, making his deal a significant financial commitment for any interested team.
One possible exception could be TNT, where Williams previously played and established himself as one of the league’s top scoring guards.
A return to the Tropang 5G could provide Williams with a familiar environment as he looks to revive his form. (By the Staff)
