MILO offers 18 sports clinics this summer

Leading beverage MILO has launched its 2018 sports program, starting with summer clinics for children 7 to 12 years old.

The summer clinics, which carries the theme “Get Your Child Into Sports”, will feature 18 sports namely badminton, basketball, bowling, chess, cross-fit for kids, fencing, football, futsal, golf, gymnastics, ice skating, karatedo, lawn tennis, parkour, swimming, table tennis, tough rugby and volleyball.

Nestle Philippines, Inc. vice president Willy De Ocampo, has stressed the importance for children to be immersed in sports throughout their developing years.

“Aside from building their health, sports also teaches a lot of life lessons to children, This is a perfect time to instill the different values that will help their character, which will help them in school and in life,” said De Ocampo in a statement during Tuesday’s press conference at the Alphaland City Club in Makati.

Now on its 35th year, the clinics are handled by expert coaches and instructors, who use modern and scientific approaches to help children appreciate different sports and live a healthy and active lifestyle.

Education Undersecretary, Atty. Tonisito Umali, who was the special guest during the launching, said sports is important in nation building.

“Mahalaga ang sports. I would like to thank MILO for having this program, which will help children become well-rounded individuals,” said Umali.

The MILO Summer Sports Clinics is the longest running and most participated sports program in the country. Among the graduates of the program are basketball players Thirdy and Kiefer Ravena and Chris Tiu, taekwondo’s Japoy Lizardo, volleyball player Alyssa Valdez and gymnast Kaitlin de Guzman, a gold medalist in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games in Malaysia.

“Good character and a healthy and active lifestyle are essential for children who want to become champions on and off the court, and this can be achieved through sports. We highly encourage parents to get their child into sports, and enroll their kids in the different MILo Summer Sports Clinics,” said MILO sports marketing executive Luigi Pumaren.

Aside from the summer clinics, the MILO sports calendar include the marathon and the Little Olympics. (PNA)
