Milwaukee Bucks Nears NBA Crown
Milwaukee Bucks overcame an early double-digit deficit to take down Phoenix Suns, 123-119, in Game 5 of the 2021 NBA Finals on Saturday night (Sunday in the Philippines) at the Phoenix Suns Arena in Phoenix, Arizona.
Giannis Antetokounmpo spearheaded the Bucks with 32 points, nine rebounds and six assists, Khris Middleton drilled three outside baskets and contributed 29 markers.
Jrue Holiday made his presence felt with double-double 27 points and 13 assists, while Pat Connaughton contributed 14 points, including four outside hits, for the Bucks, which are now ahead in the series, 3-2.
Down by as much as 16 points at 37-21 in the second quarter, the Bucks slowly clawed its way back behind Holiday and Antetokounmpo to take a 64-61 halftime lead.
Milwaukee continued its rally in the third behind Middleton and Holiday to widen the lead to 85-75. Baskets from Connaughton and Antetokounmpo widened the lead further to 96-83.
The Bucks maintained the double-digit spread at 113-102 on inside hits by Antetokounmpo but the Suns went on a late rally behind Chris Paul, Devin Booker and Mikal Bridges to cut the deficit to 119-120.
The Suns even had a chance to take the lead but Booker turned the ball over that led to a three-point play by Antetokounmpo to secure the victory for the Bucks.
Booker led the Suns offense with 40 points, Paul added double-double 21 points and 11 assists, while Deandre Ayton contributed double-double 20 points and 10 rebounds.
