Monica Torres takes home gold for Team PH
Another day, another gold for Team Pilipinas.
PH bet Monica Torres stood tall in the duathlon event by adding another gold to the Philipines in the 30th Southeast Asian Games at the Subic Boardwalk in Zambales on Monday.
The 35-year old athlete clocked in two hours, eight minutes and 44 seconds in the run-bike-run event.
Pareeya Sonsem of Taiwan logged a total time at 2:11:18 to earn her silver medal while Tri Phuong Tring Nguyen of Vietnam took home the bronze with a time of 2:14:20.
Meanwhile in the men’s division, Filipino Joey Delos Reyes settled for second-place with 1:53:04 finish — only to be edged out by Indonesia’s John Jauhari who won the gold medal with 1:52:51 on the clock.
Nattawut Srinate of Thailand delivered a bronze outing with a time of 1:53:05.
