Following his altercation with Bacoor City Strikers’ Lester Reyes during their Friday night game in Cavite, Quezon Huskers guard Thomas Torres faced criticism from fans of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL).
Netizens labeled the former De La Salle University Green Archers guard as “iyakin” after he seemed to be portrayed as the victim, despite being the one who initiated the contact during the incident.
According to the video posted on MPBL’s Facebook page, Torres aggressively drove towards the basket and experienced a forceful collision when he ran into the stationary defensive stance of Reyes.
Subsequently, Torres rose to his feet and forcefully bumped into Reyes once again, prompting the latter to respond by forcefully shoving him to the ground.
Afterwards, Reyes engaged in a heated verbal altercation with Torres’ teammate, Al Francis Tamsi, before they were eventually separated.
As a consequence of the incident, the Strikers player was subsequently assessed an unsportsmanlike foul along with a technical foul.

The Huskers went on to suffer a 75-43 loss to the Strikers.
