THREE players from the expelled Bacolod MassKara team have claimed they have not received their salaries for several months, adding another issue to the controversy surrounding the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) franchise.
Abante Bilyonaryo Group sports informant Homer Sayson shared the allegation on social media Saturday night, saying the players personally reached out to him.
“Three Bacolod players in the MPBL just told me that they haven’t received their salaries for months,” Sayson posted on X.

According to Sayson, the players told him they had been dealing with team coach Lency Aransazo and Paul San Jose, whom he identified as the alleged team owner, regarding the matter.
The allegations surfaced just days after the MPBL permanently banned the MassKara players and coaches through its Red Card system and terminated the franchise’s participation for the remainder of the 2026 season over alleged game manipulation.
The controversy stemmed from Bacolod’s 100-64 loss to the Bulacan Kuyas on July 28 at the Pasay Astrodome. The game came under intense scrutiny after the MassKara failed to score a field goal during the final 7:48, prompting allegations of possible match manipulation.
The MPBL has maintained that its sanctions are administrative and preventive while its investigation continues in coordination with the GAB and other government agencies. (Adrian Co)
