MVP on board with Ricky Vargas’ ‘PBA vs China’ exhibition as season opener
Manny V. Pangilinan expressed his full support on PBA chairman Ricky Vargas’ idea to stage an exhibition game between PBA selection team and the China to formally open the league’s 46th season.
“Yes to Ricky Vargas’ China friendly,” Pangilinan tweeted.
Pangilinan may have alluded to the current dispute between the Philippines and China in the West Philippine Sea, as he mentioned that the proposed plan may have a “bit of an oxymoron nowadays”.
Recently, news came out that Chinese missile boats were alleged to have driven out the Filipino boat carrying the ABS-CBN crew near Ayungin Shoal, which is within the Philippines’ 200-nautical mile exclusive economic zone.
Still, the head of PLDT group remains on board with the “PBA vs China” friendly game for the sake of providing entertainment to the fans amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“But hey, if it helps break the pressure and provide relief to our people,” he said.
