NBA Summer League: Fil-Am Kamaka Hepa held scoreless as New Orleans defeats Golden State

Kamaka Hepa had an unproductive NBA Summer League debut as the New Orleans Pelicans defeated the Golden State Warriors, 94-86, on Monday at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

The Filipino-American center logged nine minutes but did not record any statistics as the Pelicans notched their first victory in two games in the tournament.

This was the 6-foot-10 Hepa’s first game with the Pelicans after not being used during New Orleans’ 102-88 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves last Saturday.

Dereon Sabeon led the way for the Pelicans with 25 points, while Dyson Daniels had near triple-double numbers of 17 points, 15 rebounds, and eight assists, and Jordan Hawkins contributed 16 points.

Lester Quiñones top-scored for the Warriors (0-2) with 26 points, including four triples; Mikael Jantunen added 16 markers; and Gui Santod and Brandin Podziemski had 15 and 13, respectively.

Hepa and the Pelicans will return to action on Wednesday, July 12, when they battle the Phoenix Suns at eight in the morning.
