Karl Eldrew Yulo of the National Capital Region admitted that there was pressure as he aims for a sweep of the secondary boys artistic gymnastics gold medals in the 2023 Palarong Pambansa.
Karl, the younger brother of world champion Carlos Edriel Yulo, said he is trying to concentrate amid the pressure from the public to follow in the footsteps of his kuya.
“May pressure pa rin po kasi maraming nage-expect na kailangan makagold, kailangan walang tumba, kailangan walang mali,” Karl said.
Currently, Karl has won two gold medals after topping the secondary boys individual all-around event on Wednesday night at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum with 39.85 points—14.5 in floor exercise, 9.40 in pommel horse, 13.25 in vault, and 8.8 in horizontal bar.
The 15-year-old Karl then captured his second gold medal in the week-long competition in the secondary boys team event.
Karl will try to win four more gold medals in the apparatus finals on Friday night in an attempt to surpass his best haul of five golds during the 2017 Palarong Pambansa in Antique and the 2019 Palaro games in Davao.
