One of Team Lakay’s fresh batch of young talents is set to elevate his game further when he steps into the spotlight.
Carlos “The Limitless” Alvarez, part of the legendary stable’s “next-gen,” looks to follow up his sensational ONE debut when he takes on Iran’s Reza Saedi in a three-round featherweight encounter at ONE Friday Fights 25, taking place at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on July 14.
“I’m thrilled for the opportunity because, once again, I’ll be able to demonstrate my skills in front of a global audience and perform in a world-renowned arena like Lumpinee,” he said.
Alvarez burst into the scene with an impressive outing against Iranian opponent Reza Abasi at ONE Friday Fights 13 nearly three months ago.
The brother of former ONE flyweight champion Geje Eustaquio landed multiple takedowns over the course of the one-sided contest and mounted submission attempts on the ground, providing a constant threat to Abasi.
Abasi eventually succumbed in the second round, as Alvarez took his second professional win.
On the other hand, Saedi will be making his maiden appearance under the ONE Championship umbrella.
With a kickboxing and wrestling pedigree, Saedi had his first assignment in the professional ranks under a local organization in February 2020, edging out compatriot Ali Khademi by way of a razor-thin split decision.
As Alvarez steps into the spotlight once more, he carries the weight of Team Lakay’s rich legacy.
