Nieto twins make timely return for Ateneo
Matt and Mike Nieto just came back at the right time for Ateneo after being sidelined for four games.
Despite their limited productions with their combined eight points in 20 minutes of action, the Nieto twins still helped the team prevail over Adamson Soaring Falcons, 62-48, on Sunday.
“It’s great to be back. Lalo na sa amin ni Matt na four games na ‘di nakalaro, pero as you can see, wala pa kami sa timing kasi ilang weeks din kaming ‘di nakapractice,” Mike said.
Turns out, Matt suffered a fracture from his left pinky against their FEU game while Mike sustained an ankle injury during their practice.
“Na-fracture yung pinky ko nung FEU kaya ‘di na ako nakabalik. Now recovered na siya, parang pinapatigas na lang. Na-surgery siya after FEU game,” Matt shared.
“A day after na-confine si Matt, na-confirm na dengue, ako naman sumunod. Before naman ng dengue, na-sprain ako sa practice,” paliwanag Mike also explained.
Now that both of them are already healthy, they were just glad that they exacted revenge against Adamson after beating the Blue Eagles during the season-opener.
“It’s really good to be back dito sa Adamson. Nung na-injure and nagkasakit ako, gusto ko bumalik na kalaban Adamson,” Matt said.
“One-hundred percent ako o hindi pa, gusto ko kalabanin Adamson kasi may kinuha sila sa amin nung first round na naging motivation at inspiration namin kalabanin na ulit sila,” he added.
