NLEX ends losing skid, drops Blackwater
NLEX Road Warriors halted its losing skid in the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup after a 90-73 beating of Blackwater Bossing on Thursday night at the Don Honorio Ventura State University Gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.
JR Quiñahan tallied 16 points and eight rebounds, while Philip Paniamogan added 14 markers, including four three-point conversions, as the Road Warriors moved up to 5-5 slate.
Celedonio Trollano chipped in 12 points, while Kenneth Ighalo and Kevin Alas contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively, as the Road Warriors fanned their playoffs hopes by snapping its three-game slide.
The Road Warriors set the tone early with conversions from Trollano and Jericho Cruz for a 28-22 lead. It grew to 46-38 at the half with Quiñahan connecting his inside hits in the second frame.
The Bossing responded with a run in the second half as they trimmed the deficit to as low as 44-48 but the Road Warriors pulled away anew with three-point hits by Paniamogan to widen the lead to its biggest at 90-69 on a layup by Alas.
Simon Enciso top-scored with 17 points, while Carl Bryan Cruz and rookie Joshua Torralba added 14 and 10 points, respectively, as the Bossing dropped to 0-10, one loss away from ending the conference with a sweep defeat.
