NLEX gets its money back on Erram

By Miles Morales

New NLEX big man John Paul Erram finally proved that coach Yeng Guiao’s gamble in him during the offseason is indeed worth the heavy price.

Guiao first noticed Erram’s full potential during the later’s short Gilas Pilipinas stint.

Erram led his new squad to finally barge into the win column of the PBA Philippine Cup on Sunday night when the Road Warriors slipped past Columbian Dyip, 107-97.

The 6’9 center finished with 23 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and five block shots to lead the Road Warriors for the frachise’s first win since acquiring him in a trade in the offseason for the veteran duo of Alex Mallari and Dave Marcelo.

“Nakahinga talaga ako ng maluwag kasi alam naman ng mga tao ‘yung pressure na meron sa akin kasi ang dami nilang binitawan,” said Erram.

“Ngayong naka-deliver ako ng panalo and then nag Best Player pa ako, ang sarap sa pakiramdam.”

Erram and fellow NLEX big man Marion Magat, who poured in 14 points and 13 rebounds, teamed up to form Road Warriors’ twin tower combination and make up for the missed the services of veteran JR Quinahan, who is currently out with a sprained ankle.
