NLEX routs Columbian Dyip
NLEX Road Warriors got back on the winning track after crusing past Columbian Dyip, 116-104, in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
NLEX last-minute push against streaky Dyip allowed them to finish with a 3-1 win-loss slate.
Returning import Aaron Fuller filled in the void that Ola Ashaolu left after suffering a tendon injury, finishing with 35 points, 21 rebounds and seven assists. Larry Fonacier led the local crew with 17 points while Kenneth Ighalo went for 15.
Both teams were exchanging buckets to keep the game close throughout three quarters, until Fuller and Alex Mallari unloaded an 11-0 run for the NLEX to open the fourth period.
Dyip would counter an 8-0 surge of their own, but Fonacier and JR Quiñahan would finally dispatch the Columbian squad by burying three straight triples in the final two minutes of the match.
Import Akeem Wright scored game-high 37 points for the winless Dyip while Jerramy King settled with 22.
