No celebration just yet for UST Growling Tigers

The UST Growling Tigers may have entered the Finals for the first time after four years, but there is no reason for the team to celebrate just yet.

“Wala pa kaming naa-achieve. We haven’t achieved anything yet,” said UST head coach Aldin Ayo.

But that doesn’t mean that the Tigers were not allowed to live in the moment, as numerous players were shedding tears of joy when the final buzzer sounded.

Indeed, UST just conquered the twice-to-beat UP Fighting Maroons, 65-62, on Wednesday to book a trip to the championship game.

“That’s why I told the players after the game, well, they were celebrating and right now sabi ko kay Renzo [Subido]… Renzo was apologizing because nagce-celebrate, sabi ko sa kanya okay lang, let it all out, tao lang naman eh,” the second-year Tigers mentor explained.

“Pero I told them to refocus because hindi pa tapos eh. Hindi pa tapos.”

Things will be much tougher for the Tigers when they face the Ateneo Blue Eagles on Saturday, which have yet to drop a game this Season 82.

“Nakita ko lang yung celebration. Ako medyo nag worry ako ng konti kasi ayaw ko makita ng ganung celebration na mukhang silang nakukunteto eh. And some of the coaching staff were crying, even my wife was crying, but I told her, sabi ko mommy wala pa tayo na-aachieve eh. So we have to refocus and prepare for out next game,” Ayo said.
