NorthPort’s playoff dream continues with win over Alaska
The playoff dream continues for NorthPort Batang Pier as they trounced Alaska Aces, 94-84, on Wednesday night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The Aces actually opened the final frame with 14 straight points to take a 74-71 lead, but the duo of Sean Anthony and Stanley Pringle led a 19-4 rally for a 90-78 lead with 2:33 left to seal the deal.
Anthony had 24 points and 17 rebounds while Pringle made 21 markers, including 12 in the fourth quarter alone.
Mo Tautuaa had 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists while Jonathan Grey chipped in 13 points.
NorthPort improved to 4-6 and are currently at seventh in the standings.
They now are assured of at least a playoff for the eighth and last spot for the playoffs, which is projected to commence on the first week of April.
The Batang Pier though will play Barangay Ginebra first next Wednesday, April 3, before fully minding the playoffs.
Carl Bryan Cruz had 23 points to lead Alaska, who has lost their second game in a row and have gone 4-7.
The Aces are currently at ninth in the standings.
Sonny Thoss had 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Simon Enciso scattered 11 markers and 5 dimes.
