Nowhere to go but UP: Kobe Paras set to join Fighting Maroons

By Mark Patriarca

Gilas Pilipinas cadet and former Creighton Bluejay Kobe Paras will be joining the University of the Philippines’ men’s basketball team.

Tagging Kobe on Twitter, the UP Men’s Basketball Team tweeted a short and simple message: “Welcome home, Kobe.”

The State University followed it up with photos of Kobe at the Diliman campus, captioning them, “Kobe Paras joins UP…The Paras legacy lives on.”

Kobe joins the team that his dad Benjie Paras led to its last UAAP title in 1986.

However, Kobe made it clear that he wants to make a name for himself and not just follow his dad’s footsteps.

The UP Fighting Maroons also recently added Ricci Rivero to its roster. However, both Gilas cadets will have to render residency this season to be able to suit up next year.

The whole UP community roars in excitement, making a new battle cry to celebrate the news deemed #UPFlight as he and Ricci joins fellow rising stars Paul Desiderio and Gomez De Liaño siblings, Javi and Juan.
