NU snaps five-game skid at the expense of FEU
Consider this one a statement win for NU!
The Bulldogs scored an empathic 61-39 triumph against FEU Tamaraws, claiming their first-ever victory in the UAAP Season 82 men’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena, on Wednesday, September 25.
The Jhocson-based squad vented out all of their frustrations right from the tip-off, starting out the game at 14-6 lead in the opening canto.
NU never looked back the moment they dominated the first half, 37-13, while the Tams would falter all throughout the matchup.
Bulldogs’ pestering defense limited FEU to a season-low 39 points, on an abysmal 19 percent from the field.
NU finally snapped their five-game losing skid, improving their record at 1-5.
“We could have easily been 5-1 or 4-2 at this point, but we stayed the course and we were gifted with a win,” said NU head coach Jamike Jarin as he brought all of his players in the press room.
“The reason why I brought all these young men here is because we win together, we lose together.”
Dave Ildefonso powered NU with 20 points and eight rebounds, while Migs Oczon chalked up nine markers and six boards.
Meanwhile, NU fell to a 2-4 win-loss standing.
Barkley Eboña was the lone double-digit scorer for the Tams, registering 17 points and 12 rebounds.
