NXLED Chameleons setter Gel Cayuna believes the 2026 PVL Invitational Conference has provided a valuable opportunity for her to develop better chemistry with her new teammates as the team continues to adjust to playing together.
Cayuna admitted that she has yet to fully regain her rhythm after joining the Chameleons in the offseason, but said the competitive nature of the Invitational Conference has helped her gradually settle into her role.
“It’s more competitive unlike sa On Tour na walang bearing iyung games,” Cayuna told Abante Sports’ Jonas Lavarias. “Oo, kahit paano nakikita ko na iyung ganyan. Pero hindi pa siya 100 percent talaga.”
The veteran setter acknowledged that miscommunication remains an issue for Nxled, but said the team has been addressing those concerns during training.
“Marami pa ring mga miscommunication. Pero iyun naman na natatrabaho namin sa trainings,” she said.
For Cayuna, the tournament has also served as an important test of the Chameleons’ chemistry, particularly with several new players on the roster.
“Dito, iyung chemistry namin, parang dito talaga nasusubok kung paano namin buuin iyung chemistry namin,” Cayuna said.
She added that the Invitational has been a good learning experience as the team works to strengthen its connection on the court.
The Chameleons are set to battle guest team EST Cola of Thailand in the one-game finale of Invitational Conference on Tuesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. (Adrian Co)
