October is the target date for PBA restart
The 45th PBA Philippine Cup 2020 is expected to restart around October.
The Games and Amusements Board (GAB) Chairman Abraham Mitra said that he is on board with the PBA to start next month according to their meeting with the Joint Administrative Order (JAO) panel of Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).
“We are waiting for the IATF,” said Mitra
“Phase by phase kasi ang approach pa natin and we are looking at mid-October para makapagsimula sila (PBA).”
Meanwhile, the PBA has already resumed its training with four players from all 12 teams allowed in respective training facilities.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial has already made a request from IATF to expand workouts to 5-on-5 scrimmages this time.
“So far, so good ang ating workouts since we began limited training last week. Maayos ang takbo,” Marcial said.
“Teams are policing their own ranks while we send inspectors to monitor every team. Kung pumayag ang IATF to allow 5-on-5 scrimmages under our health/safety protocols, baka we can do it starting Sept. 15.”
