An exhibition between former eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao and Muay Thai legend Buakaw Banchamek is reportedly in the works.
MMA scribe Timothy Wheaton reported this on Twitter.
Another report by Beyondkick.com said a press conference is being set to formally announce the bout set for January 2024.
The exhibition is supposedly to be hosted on Buakaw’s territory in Thailand.
The last time Pacquiao fought was when he outworked Korean DK Yoo in an exhibition last December.
He was also supposed to take on French boxer Jaber Zayani in an exhibition in February, but it fell through. There were also rumors that he would take on British welterweight Conor Benn, but the exhibition also did not go through.
The Buakaw fight, however, seemed more realistic, as both of them are legends in their respective sports.
The Thai fighter is a former two-time Omnoi Stadium champion, Lumpinee Stadium Toyota Marathon champion, former No. 1-ranked fighter in Lumpinee Stadium, Thailand Featherweight champion, two-time K-1 World MAX champion, and 2011 and 2012 Thai Fight Tournament champion.
Also, they only have a four-year gap, with Pacquiao being 44 and Buakaw being 41.
