Paras, Go aim to provide hope and inspiration to Filipinos through basketball
Kobe Paras, Isaac Go and the rest of the Gilas Pilipinas looks forward to provide hope and inspiration to the Filipino people in this hard times.
With the COVID-19 pandemic still ongoing, on top of the aftermaths left by strong typhoons in the country, Paras is just happy to represent the national team in the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers in Manama, Bahrain.
“I’m just happy to get another chance to create memories with teammates,” said the UP swingman on ‘Sports Page’. (We’re going through) trying times in the country. Ang dami nangyayari. Hopefully, as a team we can bring hope to people.”
“I don’t care if people notice me or not. I just want to play the right way. I just want to help the country become better as a whole, and basketball is a sport that unites.”
On the other hand, Go is also grateful that he is given another opportunity to don the blue and white Team Pilipinas jersey.
“We’re the lucky guys who got chosen to represent the country. We know that given the chance, anybody would want to take our slot.
Echoing Paras’ sentiments, the 2019 PBA first overall pick knows the importance of playing for the country especially in this difficult period.
“We have to give it respect by giving all that we have and that when we enter the floor, we aren’t just going in as 12 players with the coaching staff, but we also have everybody back home, the millions of Filipinos with us in spirit, cheering us on, and we have to represent them the best way we can,” said Go.
