Parks aids Gilas in victory over Senegal

Ray Parks Jr. came alive in the fourth quarter to lift Gilas Pilipinas past Senegal, 75-63, during their rematch in the 2023 Heyuan WUS International Basketball Tournament on Sunday at Heyuan Sport Gymnasium.

Parks partnered with CJ Perez to give Gilas a 55-53 advantage over Senegal midway through the fourth period.

Jean Boissy sank a triple to force a 56-all deadlock, but Parks responded with six straight points to push the nationals ahead.

AJ Edu and Kiefer Ravena put the finishing touches on successive treys to keep Senegal from coming back.

Edu topped Gilas with 15 points on top of seven rebounds. Perez added 14 markers even as Dwight Ramos chipped in 12 points, eight rebounds, and two assists.

June Mar Fajardo had 11 markers, while Parks scored all of his eight points in the final quarter.

Gilas now holds a 2-1 record after avenging its loss to Senegal last Friday.

The nationals will meet Iran on Monday.
