A well-conditioned Alvin Pasaol guided Meralco to a 96-83 victory against NLEX on Wednesday night’s PBA on Tour at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The 6-foot-2 Pasaol, known for his girth, usually walks around at 200 pounds. But on Wednesday night, he was running up and down the floor, thanks to his leaner physique.
This helped him shoot down seven treys and finish with 25 points to go with his five rebounds.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa management na pinush ako na ibalik ko ‘yung dating weight,” said Pasaol during the post-game interview. “Kailangan ibalik ko ang favor na magpapayat para makalaro ng mabuti.”
The Bolts broke away in the second half for their seventh victory in 11 games.
Meralco also got 12 points and eight rebounds from Raymond Almazan.
Allein Maliksi and Diego Dario added 11 markers each.
With a 43-39 halftime lead, the Bolts began pressing the action inside the shaded area to create a 15-point gap.
But the Road Warriors could not get any closer than 12 points.
Don Trollano led NLEX with 17 points. Sean Anthony and Matt Nieto had 15 markers apiece.
The Road Warriors fell to their fifth defeat in nine games.
