Paul Zamar receives Player of the Week honors

Only acquired by Blackwater as a free agent last May, Paul Zamar finally broke out of the league, as he was chosen as Cignal-PBA Press Corps Player of the Week.

The former UE standout averaged 12 points and five rebounds in their back-to-back wins against Meralco and Blackwater to solidify their playoff bid.

Zamar fired 13 points against Meralco last Friday, but it was his clutch plays including a game-winning three to close out the game in favor of Blackwater, 94-91, was the highlight of his game.

Then Zamar would continue his consistent performance by tallying 11 points and eight rebounds in their 99-93 win against Rain or Shine on Sunday.

After being left unsigned for about 6 years in the PBA, Zamar found his groove in 2018 Asean Basketball League (ABL) where he would lead Mono Vampire to the Finals in a losing effort against Alab-Pilipinas.

Zamar edged out teammate Allein Maliksi, Alaska’s Simon Enciso, Chris Banchero and Vic Manuel, Ginebra’s Japeth Aguilar, LA Tenorio and Mark Caguioa, Magnolia’s Paul Lee, Mark Barroca and Ian Sangalang, as well as Northport’s Sean Anthony and Mo Tautuaa for the weekly plum.
