PayMaya, Creamline post straight sets wins

Paymaya and Creamline posted straight sets wins against separate opponents in the opening day of the Philippine Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The High Flyers withstood a big fightback by newcomers Tacloban Fighting Warays in the second set to claim the victory 25-8, 33-31, 25-20 in the first game.

Reinforcement Tess Rountree led PayMaya with 22 points as she came up big to silence the Fighting Warays. Shelby Sullivan added 15 markers.

Skipper Jovelyn Prado paced Tacloban with 12 points.

With volleyball superstar Alyssa Valdez leading the charge, the Cool Smashers made short work of another rookie team, Petro Gazz Angels, 25-18, 25-16, 25-13 in the nightcap.

Kuttika Kaewpin scored a team-high 17 points for the Cool Smashers while Valdez contributed 14.
