Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings’ Aljon Mariano is all geared up to make his triumphant return to the University of Santo Tomas as part of the highly-anticipated PBA on Tour event.
The Gin Kings are scheduled to face off against the Meralco Bolts in a pre-season game at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion on July 5th, with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
Adding to the excitement, the NorthPort Batang Pier, managed by UST mentor Pido Jarencio, will take on the NLEX Road Warriors on the same day.
Mariano, a former standout of the Growling Tigers, faced adversity when his penultimate year was marred by “game-fixing” allegations during Game 3 of the UAAP Season 76 finals against the De La Salle University Green Archers.
Despite repeated denials of allegations regarding match-fixing, Mariano made a resilient comeback for UAAP Season 77 with UST. However, the Growling Tigers fell short of reaching the Final Four.
Since then, the 30-year-old forward has successfully transitioned to the PBA and has amassed an impressive collection of seven championships with the Gin Kings team.
The PBA on Tour event at UST offers ticket prices of P450 for patron, P350 for the lower box, and P250 for general admission, with all proceeds dedicated to supporting UST athletes.
