PBA players congratulate Jayjay Helterbrand after retirement
Long-time Barangay Ginebra guard Jayjay Helterbrand has decided to call it quits after a 17-year career in the PBA, and players reacted in their social media accounts about it.
Teammate Joe Devance congratulated Helterbrand on a legendary career and was honored “to be part of his legacy.”
Old Ginebra teammate Eric Menk wished Helterbrand a good post-PBA life.
Newly-drafted PBA players Jeron Teng and Jett Manuel both thanked their “idol” for his contributions in the PBA.
Former teammates Rodney Brondial and Jens Knuttle both expressed pleasure to have played with Helterbrand at least for certain parts of their careers.
Alaska frontman Calvin Abueva said he “would have liked to play with [Jayjay] someday.”
Gabe Norwood, Helterbrand’s teammate in the 2007 Team Pilipinas, also wished a “blessed post-basketball life.”
