PBA thumbs down having Blatche as import for Commissioners’ Cup
The PBA has shut down the idea of having Andray Blatche play as an import in the league’s second conference this year to keep him in shape for the 2019 Fiba World Cup.
PBA Board of Governors, which met on Friday, thumbed down the suggestion with the board chairman Ricky Vargas saying Blatche is beyond the height limit set for imports in the Commissioner’s Cup.
The Gilas naturalized olayer is listed as 6-foot-11.
“We talked about Blatche but you have to be 6’10 and below. We think he will not pass the height requirement,” Vargas said
The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) had initially planned to have Blatche, who led the Philippines back to the FIBA World Cup, see action in the PBA instead of him going back to the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).
Gilas will take part in the World Championships from August 31 to September 15 in China.
