PBA to consider another ‘bubble season’ amid COVID-19 season
The PBA will evaluate the possibility of holding another “bubble season” as the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) has been strictly imposed in Metro Manila and neighboring provinces due to a spike in COVID-19 cases.
League commissioner Willie Marcial explained that he will hold a meeting with the Board of Governors starting next week to discuss the target schedule of the opening as well as its financial status and health situation in the country.
“The board will study the league’s finances and take up other important matters,” he said. “After that, mas alam na natin kung saan tayo papunta.”
The league was supposed to open on April 18, but the government extended its ECQ in “NCR Plus” which included Metro Manila and provinces like Bulacan, Laguna and Rizal.
Althogh holding another bubble setup is a plausible option, Marcial said that if majority of the players are not on board with the said plan, the bubble season will not push through.
