Perez edges Bolick in PBA face off as Columbian escapes NorthPort
CJ Perez had the last laugh in his first battle with Robert Bolick since the Fiba Basketball World Cup as he led Columbian to a 114-108 win over NorthPort on Wednesday in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Perez tallied 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists to lead the Dyip for a 2-1 record.
Perez and Bolick were the two rookies that stood out during Gilas Pilipinas’ campaign in the Fiba Basketball World Cup.
Bolick led the Batang Pier with 23 points, seven rebounds, and 10 assists but it was not enough as they fell to 1-2.
Perez was backstopped by Eric Camson who scored 14 points and grabbed 8 rebounds and Glenn Khobuntin who added 11 points before going down with an injury to his right knee.
Mo Tautuaa had 22 points and 14 rebounds, and Garvo Lanete tallied 19 points on 4-of-9 shoting from threes, but the Batang Pier were unable to protect a 12-point first-quarter lead.
