CJ Perez pumped in eight points in the 4th quarter to lead the rampaging Lyceum Pirates to a 99-65 massacre of the Arellano Chiefs in the men’s basketball tournament of NCAA Season 93 at the Filoil Arena in San Juan.

Perez finished the game with a game high 16 points to lead the Pirates notch their 4th straight win–Lyceum’s best start since joining the league six years ago.

It also tied Lyceum’s longest win streak at four since the then Boni Tan-mentored side did the same late in the elimination round.

What made the feat more remarkable is that all of the Pirates’ wins came against teams–San Beda, Jose Rizal, San Sebastian and Arellano– projected to make it to the Final Four and challenge for

LPU coach Topex Robinson, however, remained modest and insisted the tournament is just starting.

“The championship is not within our reach. It’s there and we just have to keep on winning and getting used to winning together,” said Robinson.

The Marcelino twins—Jaycee and Jayvee—also made key contributions in the game especially on the defensive end. The siblings took turns in shellacking Arellano ace Kent Salado to just 11 points.

“Coach just told us to guard him (Salado), we’re just focused on stopping him,” said Jayvee, who finished with 13 points while Jaycee’s chipped in eight.
