Perez stars as Pirates win 6th straight

CJ Perez scored a team high 19 points as the Lyceum Pirates added to Perpetual Help Altas’ woes with a convincing 76-58 victory in the 93rd NCAA basketball tournament at the Filoil Arena in San Juan City.

Perez continued his strong presence inside the paint as the Pirates keep their firm grasp of the lead in the overall standings.

“We just keep on play the same aggressiveness that we’re showing and stay hungry,” said Perez in Filipino.

Lyceum skipper MJ Ayaay ably supported Perez by adding 12 points and nine rebounds as the Pirates remain unbeaten in six games.

Trailing 34-35 early in the third quarter, the Pirates turned to their defense to shut down the Altas the rest of the way.

Nigerian Prince Eze had a monster 21-point, 19-rebound effort but couldn’t prevent the Altas from falling to 2-3 (win-loss) slate.
