The University of Perpetual Help System Dalta Altas surged to a solo lead in the V-League Men’s Collegiate Challenge after a 25-14, 25-17, 25-22 victory over the San Beda University Red Lions on Friday at the Paco Arena in Manila.
Playmaker JC Enarciso led the Altas again with 12 excellent sets and finished with five points, including two aces, as they improved to 2-0 in the standings.
Jeff Marapoc wound up with 13 points, all from kills, while Kobe Tabuga added nine markers on seven spikes and two aces for Perpetual Help.
“I’m happy we got the win because we prepared for this. Happy ako na kahit wala kaming Louie Ramirez; we’re playing as a solid team,” said Perpetual Help head coach Sammy Acaylar.
Hanging to a slim 16-15 lead in the third frame, the Altas racked up four straight points, fueled by Marapoc and Tabuga’s back-to-back kills, to close the match in straight sets.
Kevin Montemayor scored nine points, while Justine Santos and Mohammad Tahilluddin contributed six points apiece for San Beda, which lost Axel Book to injury following an awkward landing in the second set.
