PFF begins SEAG buildup with AFF U22 tilt
The Philippine Football Federation begins its preparations for the upcoming Southeast Asian Games with their stint at the AFF U-22 Championship in Cambodia that will kick off on Sunday, February 17.
Mentored by former UP head coach Bob Salvacion and assisted by current Fighting Maroons gaffer Anto Gonzales, the U22 Azkals has a locally-flavored core of players from the NCAA and the UAAP, with UP had six players into the 23-man lineup.
Notably, only four of them are now in the pro ranks, with Dylan De Bruycker and Dean Ebarle are with Ceres Negros and Kaya Iloilo, respectively, with forward Troy Limbo being the only European-based player with Sunderland RCA.
The Philippines will begin their campaign against AFC U23 finalist Vietnam in Group A at Phnom Penh’s Olympic Stadium, where Thailand and East Timor complete their group.
