Welcome back, Philippines Football League!
The Philippine Football Federation has terminated its agreement with Bernard Sumayao’s Triple CH Holdings as the league operator with immediate effect.
The decision has the approval of the board of governors of the PFF led by president Mariano Araneta.
With the termination, the Philippine Premier League ceased to exist after just one match day, largely in part of the decision of Stallion Laguna and Global Makati withdrawing on the eve of kick-off.
In the said emergency conference, Laguna gaffer and chief executive Ernest Nierras revealed numerous irregularities and anomalies that damaged the credibility of Sumayao and the PPL beyond repair.
It has been revealed also in the PFF’s statement that the third club that withdrew was Ceres Negros, the two-time defending champions.
Nevertheless, the PFF are taking its necessary steps to put the domestic schedule in order, with a kick-off scheduled in the middle of May.
