PH 3×3 goes pro thanks to GAB
The Chooks To Go 3×3 has officially been recognized as a professional league by Games and Amusement Boards (GAB) in board meeting on Wednesday.
“In the board meeting of the Games and Amusements Board yesterday, we have received and accepted the request of Chooks-to-Go 3×3 to turn professional,” said GAB chairman Abraham Mitra.
Chooks To Go 3×3 commissioner Eric Altamirano believes that the recent move will allow players to find more opportunity in the newly-found basketball league.
“This will provide our local players the opportunity to explore possibilities in the professional career in the 3×3 league,” said Altamirano.
“I believe that we Filipinos have a very strong chance of excelling in this sport.”
The Philippines has ranked 22nd in the FIBA 3×3 World rankings, and Altamirano aims that the league will be recognized globally.
“This will help strengthen our drive in becoming a dominant force in the 3×3 sport all over the world,” he said.
“Just like 5-on-5, 3×3 will be another platform to showcase their talent in the sport of basketball… gusto namin itong liga na ‘to maging something inspirational for young 3×3 players.”
