Philadelphia Mauls Atlanta, Ties Series at 1-1
Philadelphia 76ers evened their NBA Eastern Conference semifinals series with Atlanta Hawks at 1-1 after a 118-102 Game 2 victory on Tuesday night (Wednesday in the Philippines) at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Joel Embiid led the 76ers with double-double 40 points and 17 rebounds, while Tobias Harris, Seth Curry and Shake Milton contributed 22, 21 and 14 points, respectively.
The 76ers opened the game with a 28-10 lead behind early conversions from Harris but the Hawks slowly clawed its way back in the second period to come to within 55-57 at the half.
Philadelphia leaned on baskets of Embiid early in the third for a 75-65 lead but Atlanta had another rally to take an 80-79 edge but the 76ers regained the lead at 91-84 behind baskets from Milton and Mattisse Thybulle.
The 76ers went for the kill in the fourth quarter on inside hits from Dwight Howard and George Hill and outside baskets from Milton as the lead reached its largest at 110-89.
Trae Young and Danilo Gallinari each finished with 21 points, Kevin Huerter added 20 markers, while Bogdan Bogdanovic and Clint Capela ended up with 14 and 10 points, respectively, for the Hawks.
