Philadelphia Prevails over Boston, Moves To No.1 In The East
Philadelphia 76ers returned to its winning ways with a 106-96 victory over Boston Celtics in the 2020-2021 NBA Season on Tuesday night (Wednesday in the Philippines) at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
Joel Embiid returned from injury to score 35 points, while Daniel Green chipped in 17 markers as the 76ers tied Brooklyn Nets on top of the Eastern Conference standings with 35-16 slate.
Ben Simmons contributed 12 markers, while Tobias Harris and Fukuan Korkmaz finished with 10 points apiece, while Dwight Howard had nine rebounds and four points for Philadelphia.
Down 31-35 early in the second quarter, the 76ers rode on outside baskets by Green and inside conversions from Embiid, Simmons and Harris for a 59-46 halftime edge.
The lead grew further for Philadelphia in the second half as it reached its largest at 96-76 in the fourth quarter. Boston rallied back but could only come to as close as 10 points.
Jayson Tatum finished the game with 22 points, Jaylen Brown added 17 markers, while Kemba Walker and Marcus Smart contributed 14 points each for the Celtics, which dropped to 25-26.
Dillon Brooks, meanwhile, scored 28 points as the Memphis Grizzlies (25-23) notched its third straighr victory by defeating Miami Heat (25-26), 124-112.
In other results, Atlanta Hawks (27-24) cruised to a 123-107 victory over New Orleans Pelicans (22-28), while Chicago Bulls (21-28) notched its second straight win by beating Indiana Pacers (22-27), 113-97.
