Philippine Azkals fail to break Nepal defense; settle for draw
The Philippines long awaited entry to the 2019 Asian Cup in United Arab Emirates will have to wait a little bit more.
The Azkals, despite getting several chances including one in stoppage time, failed to break Nepal’s defensive wall to settle for a frustrating 0-0 draw in Kathmandu.
Despite the draw the Azkals remain on top of Group F with nine points. Tajikistan and Yemen are just three points behind but are currently playing.
A win by either team will tie them with the Azkals. A draw will still give Yemen and Tajikistan a chance to qualify in the Asian Cup on the last day of group play.
The Azkals now need to beat Tajikistan in March in Bacolod City next year to join the Asian Cup for the first time.
