Phillip Manalang is a complete ‘point guard’ for UE
Phillip Manalang has rose to the occasion, and proved everybody that he can be also a reliable floor general for UE Red Warriors.
Despite suffering a blowout loss against Ateneo on Wednesday, 70-90, the UE point guard had an all-around performance of 18 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.
Even though Alvin Pasaol has always been carrying the team with his consistency, Manalang also wants to help his teammates compete at a highest level every game, especially during second half when they tried to give Ateneo a good fight.
“Sinasabi ko sa kanila lumaban lang and minotivate ko sila sa dugout, tapos paglabas ng second half ayun nag-contribute na,” said Manalang.
UE head coach Joe Silva had nothing but good words for the former NU Bullpups standout.
“Credit to Phillip kasi he embraced what I wanted to do sa kanya. He admitted that marami pa siyang kulang pero sabi ko ‘I want him to become a complete point guard’,” said Silva.
Manalang was just thankful to Coach Joe for giving him the right amount of trust.
“Sinusuklian ko lang naman yung mga binibigay nila sa akin na tiwala at confidence, kasi lagi silang nandiyan sa likod lalo na kapag natatalo kami at nadodown ako sila yung nag-motivate sa akin,” he ended.
