Phoenix Suns Dominates Denver, Goes 2-0 in West Semis
Phoenix Suns cruised to its second win in the NBA Western Conference semifinals after a 123-98 beating of Denver Nuggets in Game 2 on Wednesday night (Thursday in the Philippines) at the Phoenix Suns Arena in Phoenix, Arizona.
Devin Booker led the way with double-double 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Chris Paul added double-double 17 points and 15 assists as the Suns took a 2-0 edge in the best-of-seven series.
DeAndre Ayton also had double-double 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Mikal Bridges, Jae Crowder and Torrey Craig contributed 16, 11 and 10 markers, respectively, for Phoenix.
The Suns took a 20-14 lead early behind consecutive hits from Crowder and Booker. The Nuggets trimmed the deficit to 21-22 before closed the first quarter with a three-pointer from Dario Saric.
Phoenix widened the lead to 35-25 in the second quarter after triples by Saric and Cameron Johnson but Denver rallied to within 32-37. The Suns, however, widened the lead to 52-42 at the half on late hits by Paul and Bridges.
The Suns increased the lead further from there as three-pointers from Paul and Booker as it went up to its largest at 109-78 on three-pointers by Johnson and Bridges.
Most Valuable Player awardee Nikola Jokić tallied 24 points, 13 rebounds and six assists, Michael Porter Jr. and Paul Millsap each had 11 markers, while Will Barton added 10 points for the Nuggets.
